Chambers of Commerce Address
Connection of Young Professionals in Lake Gaston Region
In a joint venture by the Lake Gaston Regional Chamber
of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce of Warren County,
a pilot Warren County Chapter of a Lake Gaston Regional
Young Professionals Network (YPN) is underway for individuals
in the 21-40 year age range who live or work in Warren
County. The mission of the YPN is to foster community
engagement and collaboration, as well as professional
and personal growth, in the Lake Gaston region's young
professional community. This program would be the first
of its kind in Warren County.
The two chambers are proposing a joint partnership
in this pilot, as both directors acknowledge the intersections
of their regions both residentially, commercially, professionally,
and socially. Pooling resources and target audience
optimizes the impact of the program. Piloting the program
with the Warren County chapter will allow both chambers
to analyze the successes, challenges, and needs in any
ongoing, future programming that would seek to build
a regional network involving multiple chambers. The
Roanoke Valley Chamber of Commerce in Roanoke Rapids,
NC, has already expressed interested in creating a chapter
of the Lake Gaston Regional YPN and will soon come on
board as another partner in this effort.
The definition of a young professional varies, but
generally speaking, it refers to anyone from the ages
of 21-40, who is entrepreneurial and/or interested in
career advancement, is civic-minded, and has a post-secondary
degree. The Chamber of Commerce of Warren County and
Lake Gaston Regional Chamber joint YPN will follow this
basic definition though will only be exclusive in age.
Activities and benefits related to the YPN pilot program
will include the following: networking events, professional
development, social/cultural/educational events, and
volunteer/service opportunities. While most YPNs charge
a membership fee, the pilot year of the program will
include free membership for interested individuals for
the year of the pilot. The YPN program will prioritize
Chamber members as host sites, facilitators, caterers,
etc. when possible and applicable.
If you are interested in supporting the YPN, please
contact Christina Wells at the Lake Gaston Regional
Chamber of Commerce (email@example.com)
or Charla Duncan at the Chamber of Commerce of Warren
Support may come in the form of sponsoring the program
or a specific event, and/or working with the program
to offer activities and discounted rates to YPN members.
We encourage all employers and organizations to spread
the word among their eligible employees and members.
